Scientific objectives and research project
This IRN would be an initiative to create methodological gateways between researchers from different environmental disciplines and countries that are using the same type of RS data for quantifying different EEVs. The emergence of agro ecology systems in southern countries for instance requires to adapt remote sensing techniques developed for homogeneous industrial agro systems (CESBIO) by evaluating RS techniques from VHR data. Thermal and stereoscopic applications over urban areas done in Mediterranean cities (Olife Lebanon) could serve to new applications quantifying the impact of trees on crop growth in emerging irrigated agro-forestry in Morocco (UCAM) or Vietnam. Drought indexes as developed in the SudMed region could be transferred in Vietnam to study climate change induced drought or flood for example. The fast changes of forested or natural areas under human pressures require the use of multi-temporal and multi-wavelength RS observation based methods developed over the cropping areas in all countries.IRD units involved
